The world has revolutionized to become a global village and people are migrating widely due to various issues affecting their parent countries. Civil, human and migrant rights are also being violated widely.

Some of the groups that are fighting for the violations of these rights include The Lacey and Larkin Fund Frontera Fund, The Justice that Works Organization and The American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona (ACLU of Arizona) and many others.

The American Civil Liberties Union Of Arizona (Aclu Of Arizona):

The ACLU of Arizona has been able to fight for the rights of migrants in Arizona successfully. The organization was able to win an instrumental case that formed the basis of the Miranda Warning in American law.

This was the case of Ernesto Miranda who got a rape conviction due to a mere confession. In 1960, it was able to champion the rights of minorities by challenging the unconstitutional laws in the state of Arizona.

Other cases that they have been able to win include a 1960 case which led to the overturning of multi-racial marriages ban in the state.

Due to a historical 2007 federal lawsuit that the organization launched and assisted in litigating the case against Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his deputies in profiling racially Latinos during traffic as disguised immigration patrols. Read more: Michael Larcey | Crunchbase

The ACLU of Arizona has also been able to champion for the right of free speech for day laborers. The group was also able to make sure that Arizona laws which denied bail to immigrants and another which enforced the law that all law authorities enforced immigration laws were overturned.

In addition to this, the organization is also working on pending cases which will further defend the rights of migrants in Arizona.

This includes a case which is challenging the executive order by Jan Brewer who is the Arizona Governor to deny driver’s licenses to young immigrants who are staying in America under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

It is also working on another case which seeks to have an Arizona law that states that immigrants working with fake work documents should be deported. The ACLU of Arizona was formed in 1959 and since then it has been working hard to fight for the rights of immigrants in America.

The Lacey And Larkin Frontera Fund:

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is the brainchild of two journalists Jim and Michael. The two decided to use the over 3.5 million dollars settlement money which they got from an unconstitutional arrest by Sherriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County to start a migrant rights organization in Arizona.

In 2007, the journalists were arrested unconstitutionally in the middle of the night from their homes after they covered a story which revealed about a grand jury court proceeding. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund fights for the civil, human and migrant rights of individuals in Arizona.
